Some Spring in Your Step

Temperatures above freezing?! With the last few weeks being a constant drudge of ice, snow, and arctic chills, the polar vortex made anyone living in Northwest Arkansas somewhat miserable. This weekend, we finally found out skies sunny and with temperatures somewhere in the 50’s, it’s beginning to feel like spring. More exciting than the weather? Spring fashions. Skirts, heels, colors! Put your jeans and boot socks away, because things have finally warmed up.

Designers I Adore: Kate Spade

If my paycheck would allow it, I would live in Kate Spade and J. Crew. Unfortunately, the life of a college student is not one that generally allows for the spending of excessive amounts of money on items that aren’t essential to survival. That doesn’t mean I can’t window shop, though, and Kate Spade is one of my absolute favorite places to do so.

An Introduction

For whatever reason, my favorite way to procrastinate is to search for internships. Why this is, I couldn’t tell you, because it usually leaves me slightly more panicked than I started. However, this tendency to look at internships has brought it to my attention that, as a communications student, I should have some sort of blog. Some sort of proof that I have a web presence besides that of twitter and facebook (neither of which I consider very professional or worth showing to a potential employer, but that’s just one girl’s opinion.)

Here I am before you now, having gotten out of class a couple hours ago and spent this time trying to understand the in’s and out’s of WordPress, with a blog. Or, something resembling a blog. Because how does one even go about starting these “blogs”? No one ever stumbles upon a blog at it’s very start, or at least I’ve never done so. So I’m sitting on my sofa, contemplating exactly what I could write about for such a blog, be it one that is ever noticed or not. I like fashion. I like following the ever present struggle for women’s rights. Therefore the obvious choice was to try and combine the two somehow. (Will this work? I’m not necessarily expecting it to, but here’s hoping.)

I am putting it on the record now that I am no expert in any of these departments. I know fashion to the extent of what I think looks good and which designer’s I lust over most frequently. I know beauty to the extent that I try new products whenever I can get my hands on them. Lastly, I know about women’s rights to the extent that I am a women, and I don’t think any man should have his hands on what I do with my body, and that I should be paid based on my skills and not based on my gender.

I am a very opinionated, driven, young woman, I am not afraid to step on toes to get myself where I think I need to go, and I like red lipstick and black eyeliner.

Welcome to my blog.
